Stan Drop Insane Trailer For Star-Studded Sci-Fi Anthology ‘Electric Dreams’

If you like sci-fi / world-building / high quality production / spotting that person from that thing, then you might just be down with Stan’s new original series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams.

It just dropped the first trailer today, and makes not a lot of sense but holds a lot of promise. The series is “a hugely ambitious anthology drama” based on the short stories by award-winning sci-fi novelist Philip K Dick, and aims to tell ten “epic, ambitious and moving stand-alone episodes, each set in a different and unique world – some of which lie in the far reaches of the universe and time and others which are much, much closer to home.”

It stars an absolute belter of a cast, including Bryan Cranston (also executive producing), Anna Paquin, Timothy Spall, Steve Buscemi, Benedict Wong, Terrence Howard, Greg Kinnear and Essie Davis.

Dick, whose work includes genre-defining fiction like ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?‘ (later adapted into the film Blade Runner) and ‘The Man in the High Castle‘, and who had several of his short stories adapted into iconic films (Minority Report, Total Recall), was famous for building universes and tearing them apart – and ‘Electric Dreams’ looks like no exception.

It includes a bodiless voice pleading to be on Earth, Steve Buscemi injecting people with… something, a Stranger Things-type kid finding out his dad is an alien, and a pig dude. Nice.

It looks like Stan has finally found its answer to Netflix‘s Black Mirror.

There’s no launch date yet for ‘Electric Dreams’ yet, only the promise that it will “premiere soon”. Can’t wait, tbqh.
