There have been quite a few on-screen-family reunions during iso, but this one is guaranteed to set 90’s kids’ hearts aflutter. Daryl Sabara & Alexa PenaVega (AKA Carmen and Juni Cortez from Spy Kids fame) reunited during an Instagram live session to chat about their time filming together. If this doesn’t inject you with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, I simply don’t know what will.
Daryl and wife Meghan Trainor were recently rewatching the OG Spy Kids together, 19 years after its release, when adult Juni began answering fan questions on Meghan’s IG. Meghan then added a very special guest… her partner’s former sibling. This was the first time Alexa and Meghan had actually met, and the entire conversation is just so damn wholesome.

The duo began to reminisce about the good ol’ days, like feeling traumatised about harnesses to this day. “Remember how how we used to have the harness on for hours and we’d be like, ‘Can someone take it off?’” Daryl said. “But no one ever came? Crazy.”
He then showed Alexa one his most iconic outfits on display, which Meghan’s parents had framed for him.
Alexa confirmed she still had a costume of her own lying around – the below formal look, featuring the red top and black pants. “I might steal the in-law idea,” she added, ” ’cause that’s so awesome. And then we can see how little the clothes are…”
The duo lovingly recited their full character names for Meghan – Junito Rocket Racer Rebel Cortez and Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Costa-Brava Cortez.
Alexa also introduced Daryl and Meghan to her husband Carlos and their youngest son, Kingston, who was born last year.
As for Alexa and Carlos’ 5-year-old? He prefers The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl. How dare.
