Let me start with a quick disclaimer: To all the ladies out there who, like me, have been desperately excited about the forthcoming release of Sex and the City 2 I know that regardless of what is said in the next few centimetres of text, we will still go to see this movie.
Unfortunately, if it’s a quality film that we are after – one that brings out the best in those four gals we know almost as well as our real life flesh-and-blood friends and one that captures the sexy, sassy, moving, hilarious essence of our beloved tv show… it’s not looking good for us ladies. It’s not looking good at all.
The world premiere was in New York City on Monday, seeing the hugely anticipated second coming of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha to the big screen. The reviews have come in and to give you an idea of what’s in store when it hits Australian theatres this Friday, here’s a handful of phrases taken from the critics’ verdicts…
Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte have misplaced their chic and sassy and become, gulp, too ordinary and desperate. Still, the women are not anywhere as desperate as the movie itself, which fails its stars and its many obsessive fans. – LA Times

Samantha gets in trouble for getting too chummy with a potential beau, they run away to the beach-but not before we get an eyeful of the raging boner Samantha wants to put inside her “Lawrence of my labia.” That god-awful pun is one of many in this embarrassingly scripted movie. – Slant Magazine
