Spike Jonze Reveals More About His ‘Siri’ Inspired Joaquin Phoenix Romance

Back in February we reported that Spike Jonze’s next feature film would star Joaquin Phoenix, Carey Mulligan-Mumford, Samantha Morton and iPhone voice recognition software, Siri, in a then-untitled romance that revolved around Phoenix’s character falling in love with the AI voice device. New details of the film have emerged, and Collider are reporting that the now-titled project will instead star Rooney Mara, Amy Adams and Olivia Wilde alongside news that the production company has delivered an official synopsis for the film, which is now known as ‘Her‘, the followup to Jonze’s 2009 adaptation of ‘Where The Wild Things Are.’

Here’s the synopsis: In the not so distant future, Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix), a lonely writer purchases a newly developed operating system designed to meet the user’s every needs. To Theodore’s surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and the ways that technology isolates and connects us all.

Filming on ‘Her‘ wrapped recently and it sounds very much like that time Spike Jonze made robot love with Miranda July. You’ll be able to catch a glimpse of Phoenix and Amy Adams’ on-screen chemistry very soon when they appear in the much-anticipated Paul Thomas Anderson offering, The Master.

Completely unrelated but classic and adorable:
