Sorry To Be The Bearer Of Devastating News, But ‘Adventure Time’ Is Ending

Cartoon Network has announced that the absolutely incredible, 11/10 for-kids-but-not-really-for-kids cartoon ‘Adventure Time‘ is ending.
The show, which has won a whopping SIX Emmy Awards, will bow out after its 9th season, which is currently in production.
It’ll conclude with 142 beautiful, meaningful episodes under its belt.
Creator of the show (and voice of the illustrious Lumpy Space Princess) Pendleton Ward spoke out about the end of his show, saying it started simply as a passion project:
“Adventure Time was a passion project for the people on the crew who poured their heart into the art and stories.

We tried to put into every episode something genuine and telling from our lives, and make a show that was personal to us, and that had jokes too!

I’m really happy that it connected with an audience for so long. It’s a special thing, I think.”
Chief content officer for Cartoon Network, Rob Sorcher, said this about the end of the iconic show:

“Cartoon Network Studios is proud to have brought together this group of brilliant artists and animators who helped make Adventure Time one of the most critically acclaimed TV series of a generation.”
The show, which followed unlikely human hero Finn and excellent heroic pooch sidekick Jake meeting a plethora of interesting characters in the Land of Ooo, managed to teach progressive and empathetic messages to kids and adults alike.
We’re bloody devastated.
But here’s some good news: the new episodes and specials that are currently in production will continue to air throughout 2017 and ’18, according to THR. So we have time to mourn.
RIP to a stupidly important show. You taught us so much.
