This week, our little hearts were split in two by the news that Sophie Monk and Stu Laundy, whose seemingly unbreakable bond was forged in the fires of The Bachelorette, had broken up. Now, as we speculate as to why – maybe their contract was up, maybe they just weren’t a good fit – an alleged mate of Stu’s has come forward anonymously to tell News Corp that Sophie’s constant partying is to blame for the split.
The unnamed source – aka the best and most reliable kind of source, obviously – reckons that Sophie was not quite being truthful when she told the nation that her ideal date is a quiet night in with “trackies, TV and wine.” While that sounds like a dream, Stu Laundy’s anonymous mate seems to think that it’s a little too dull for Sophie’s tastes. He said:
“Sophie loves to party … loves to have a drink and a cigarette and has made no secret of that. And in the end it became a bit much for Stu … He tried to get her to slow down … just a little bit. Have the odd night on the couch. But Sophie wasn’t interested.”
Sophie’s manager Titus Day has rubbished the claims, saying “there is no one I’ve met who parties less than Sophie … That is common knowledge.” She herself has not yet commented.
The Bachelorette star announced her breakup in an Instagram post late last week, saying that she “went into this experience looking to settle down and start a family”, but that it didn’t work out with Stu as “we are just very different people.”
