Sony Will Now Give ‘The Interview’ a Limited Release

The Interview, which is easily the most talked-about movie of the year in spite of the fact that only a fraction of people have actually seen the damn thing, is now officially being released after all.

Per a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, Sony have announced that the film will be shown in select U.S. cinemas on Christmas Day, its original release date, before it was pulled due to terrorist threats.
Before the ‘it was all a publicity stunt’ conspiracy theories kick in again, it’s worth noting that the film will only be shown in 200-300 smaller theaters, rather than the thousands of screens that were originally planned.
This makes it more of a symbolic victory for Sony, who were projected to lose somewhere north of $75 million on the film after its cancellation, but might now recoup a little of that.

Sony have since released three new teasers for the film, since they’re probably fairly confident nobody in North Korea will actually be able to watch them:
