Social Media Heroes Lee Lin Chin & Waleed Aly In The Running For Gold Logie

It’s the power of the yoof, baby. Two of Gen Y’s cult TV heroes, Waleed Aly and Lee Lin Chin are up for a Gold Logie this year, in what is probably the most diverse lineup for the publicly-voted award we’ve seen.
Waleed, as host of The Project, is probably one of the most influential commentators on political and social issues among Australia’s young people. Obviously, Lee Lin has been a journalist since 1968, but it’s pretty clear that this nom comes from her more recent work with the folk at The Feed.
It’s a pretty nice break from the lily-white lineups of previous years. I mean, you know, this isn’t The Oscars, but it’s nice to score a little representation.
Other Gold Logie noms include ‘The Project’ co-host Carrie Bickmore, Grant Denyer, Scott Cam and Essie Davis
The nominations dropped Sunday afternoon at an event at Crown Casino in Melbourne, and the whole shebang is gonna air on May 8.
