So There Really Is A 21 Jump Street/Men In Black Crossover In The Works

Look, Hollywood’s just in a pretty weird place right now, ok?

Among the plethora of other strange and unusual information that seeped into the public eye thanks to the Great Sony Hack of 2014 was the interesting titbit that someone, somewhere decided that attempting a crossover between 21 Jump Street and Men In Black was a really good idea.
Turns out that was neither hot air, nor a false flag operation. The studio really is exploring the idea as best they can.
Again, we say repeatedly:
Jump Street’s co-director Phil Lord told MTV, “It’s still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they’re going to be terrible. We’re really focussing on what’s a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives. And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time.
Baring in mind that in the leaked emails, Jonah Hill called the idea “clean and rad and powerful.” So… y’know… take that for what its worth.
It’s probably prudent to point out that this kind of thing happens all the time in the film production process; for every dumb idea that actually makes it to the screen, there’s a hundred others that are even worse that never make it to a script.
As for whether or not Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will wind up shooting bad buys next to Jenko and Schmidt, it’s safe to say that liberal doses of artistic license will be taken to put the Jump Street boys into the world of the MiB.
No matter which side of the fence you sit on when it comes to this proposal, it’s probably best you cross your fingers.
