SNL’s 40th Anniversary Reunion Special Got Itself A Bunch Of Stars, And Emojis

40 years is a hell of a long time to continually be on TV. And whether or not you like the show or rate its quality in the modern era, that’s still a feat that’s damned sure worth celebrating. So what better way to do that than by bringing back a whole swathe of performers who’ve graced your stage over the years? And also by getting a bunch of tiny pictures which one can substitute for words whilst composing text messages?

Saturday Night Live is currently in the midst of its historic 40th season, and though technically it doesn’t actually turn 40 years old until this coming October, NBC is throwing what looks like it could be an enormous live reunion special on February 15th (or the 16th here in Australia).
Thanks to a timely little Facebook teaser post, we’ve got a bit of a taste of what’s to come. In short? Big names. Big names goddamned everywhere.

If those flew by a bit too quickly, the names listed read a little something like Jack Nicholson, Amy Poehler, Jim Carrey, Peyton Manning, Dana Carvey, Kristen Wiig, Dan Aykroyd, Chris Rock, Alec Baldwin, Taylor Swift, Garrett Morris, Andy Samberg, Christopher Walken, Maya Rudolph, Tom Hanks, Martin Short, Betty White and Bill Murray.
And if THAT’S not enough to get you all fired up for some good ole’ fashioned entertainment, the 40th Anniversary celebrations are also encompassing a special app, developed specifically for the occasion. Along with thousands of shareable clips from throughout the history of the show, as well as new content such as never-before-seen cut sketches, the app will also bring forth a series of SNL-themed emoji‘s.
Like, for example, the Conehead.
Or even a Box in which one can put one’s own Dick into.
