Sir Roger Moore, star of such James Bond films as Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me, has died, aged 89.
Moore’s children, Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian, took to Twitter to break the news that the actor had died in Switzerland after “a short but brave battle with cancer”.

Moore took on the role of the third James Bond in 1973, after Sean Connery, manning the franchise across seven films until 1985.
Since then, Moore continued to appear on film and television, and wrote three non-fiction books about his life and the about the role of Bond. For the last 26 years, he has engaged in humanitarian work for UNICEF as Goodwill Ambassador.
Moore’s last public appearance was to a sold out crowd at the Royal Festival Hall in London in November last year.
A private funeral will be held in Monaco.
