Voluminously-haired belter “Sideshow” Carmen Smith has been booted off The Voice because of breaching the “spirit of the show”, an aptly vague descriptor that is perfectly on brand with the judges fondness for saying things that don’t actually mean anything.
Carmen was ousted because of her supporting role in the new Guy Sebastian video which the show’s producers consider an unfair advantage. Obviously being Guy Sebastian’s brother is not considered advantageous in the competition, because producers have found no issue with Guy Sebastian’s brother Chris Sebastian who remains in competition.
In a statement on The Voice website Carmen said, “It saddens me that I am leaving The Voice earlier much earlier than I had hoped. However, I’ve loved every minute of it and respect the decision that has been made by Joel and his team.”
Poor Team Joel is now down a member and at a disadvantage, numbers-wise. Hopefully this set back won’t make Joel turn to drinking… more.
