Shia LeBeouf Says Indiana Jones 5 Is Imminent

While Shia LeBeouf openly admitted last year that he thought he’d “dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished,” talking about the 2008 revival of Indiana Jones, the actor has just revealed he believes a fifth film isn’t so far off.

LeBouf recently told MTV News at the 2011 Movie Awards:

“I talked to Harrison, he said he’s staying in the gym, he said he’s heard no word, but he does know that George [Lucas] is out there looking for a MacGuffin. He said he’s staying in the gym, so it means, you know, it’s not so far off.”

While Indiana Jones’ producer Frank Marshall last year quashed rumours of a fifth film by declaring they were only in the research phase, Harrison Ford has embraced the idea, saying that he’d love to do another alongside George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg if he had the chance.

The storyline for a fifth installment still remains in development however, lying in the hands of Lucas. “I mean, he’s got to let it sit. He’s going through his ruminations, which is extensive,” says LeBouf.

Although the actor believed the last film could have been updated and didn’t live up to previous three films, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull still managed to become the highest-grossing film of the franchise and the second highest film of that year (2008).

This could definitely be the next project in line for LeBouf, who recently confirmed he wouldn’t return to the Transformers franchise following Dark of the Moon.
