There are few things in life that I’m more excited for than the long-awaited Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That.

Although we thought we’d said goodbye to the gals forever, they’ve strapped their designer shoes back on for a revival of the iconique drama series.

The show is currently being filmed, but we’ve still managed to get our mitts on heaps of exciting deets, so here’s everything we know so far about the show.

What is the release date for And Just Like That?

We don’t have a specific release date just yet, but BINGE just dropped a teaser clip which revealed the series is dropping in December.

The video gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hotly anticipated reboot.

“It’s Sarah Jessica, hello from New York City, 5th Avenue, shooting as we speak, the next chapter of Sex and the City, or as we like to call it, And Just Like That, with some beloved friends,” SJP says in the vid.

So no specific release date just yet, but if history is any guide, it should drop in December around the same time as the U.S.

Who is starring in And Just Like That?

As you will have noticed from the above image, three out of the four original main characters are reprising their roles in the Sex and the City reboot: Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda, and Kristin Davis as Charlotte. Sadly, Kim Cattrall will not be returning as Samantha Jones *cries into a pillow*.

A lot of the OG blokes will also be returning, including John Corbett, aka Aidan Shaw, who recently told Page Six he’ll be returning for “quite a few episodes.”

“I’m going to do the show,” he said, calling the reprisal of his role “very exciting”.

Like him or not, Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, will also be returning for the Sex and the City reboot, which we know ‘cos he’s been spotted filming several scenes with our girl, Carrie. Oh, and because executive producer Michael King spilled the beans in an interview with Deadline.

“How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?” he said, explaining that Noth had actually “been in talks for a while.”

Charlotte and Miranda’s men, Harry Goldenblatt (played by Evan Handler) and Steve Brady (played David Eigenberg), respectively, will also be returning.

And then there’s the besties, Willie Garson as Stanford Blatch and Mario Cantone as Anthony Marantino, along with Big’s ex Natasha, who’s played by Bridget Moynahan.

HBO Max recently announced a bunch of fresh faces will joining And Just Like That as well, including Grey’s Anatomy queen Sara Ramírez, Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman.

Ramírez, who you’ll remember as Dr. Calle Torres on Grey’s, will play Che Diaz, a nonbinary, queer comedian who hosts a podcast that regularly features Carrie.

Nicole Ari Parker, best known for her role on Empire, will play Lisa Todd Wexley, a Park Avenue mama-of-three, nicknamed LTW.

Choudhury, meanwhile, will play Seema Patel, a single, self-made Manhattan real estate broker. And finally, Pittman, will appear as Columbia Law professor, Dr. Nya Wallace in the Sex and the City reboot.

Why isn’t Samantha returning?

Kim Cattrall has remained rather quiet about the Sex and the City revival, so we don’t know exactly why she’s not returning, although she’s been very vocal in the past about the fact that she and Sarah Jessica Parker were “never friends,” so I’m assuming that might have something to do with it.

When a fan wrote on Instagram that Kim and SJP “dislike each other,” the IRL Carrie quickly responded, “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story, but she will always be a part of us,” she wrote via Instagram. “No matter where we are or what we do.”

Who will replace Samantha?

Samantha Jones will not be returning for the Sex and the City Revival

Well, technically, no one!

When asked the v. important question by TMZ, Sarah Jessica Parker responded, “It’s not as black and white as that. We’re not looking to bring in a fourth character. We have New York City as a fourth character. There will be lots of interesting, new characters that we’re excited about.”

That being said, “the door is open” for Samantha to return in season 2 (yep, there’s already a confirmed season 2), according to a production source who recently spoke to the Daily Mail.

“There was obviously a concern that people would miss Kim and not be engaged but the response so far has been phenomenal,” the source added. “If she ever changes her mind, she can come back.”

The insider continued, “The ladies love and value her and would love to see her on the new show. The whole point of this series is to show that friendships evolve and change over time, so Kim is always welcome to come home.”

If Kim Cattrall changes her mind, the insider says “we’d book her on the first flight to New York. There’s still time.”

Fingers and toes!

What is And Just Like That about?

Details about the And Just Like That plot have been very much on the down-low so far. All that’s been revealed is that we’re gonna see what the gals have been up to since the Sex and the City movies.

According to HBO Max, the Sex and the City reboot will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they “navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

That being said (spoiler alert!), a script recently leaked to Page Six and we copped some deets about where Carrie and Big are at and you won’t be at all surprised to learn that they’re still a toxic-ass couple in 2021.

In one scene, Carrie, who is now in her 50s and the host of a podcast, and her husband Mr. Big “appear to be over and fighting over finances in a plot familiar to many real-life Manhattan socialites.” Surprise, surprise.

Carrie is having dins with her besties Stanford, Miranda and Charlotte, where she reveals to them that things aren’t going well in her marriage (YA THINK?).

Carrie says to her pals: “I was taping the podcast, I was washing my hair. Yes, I wasn’t eating or sleeping, but at least I felt good about my marriage. Now I’m just one of the wives he was taking care of?”

Head here to have a peek at the script page that the sneaky site obtained from an even sneakier Sex and the City source.

How many episodes will there be?

As the Sex and the City reboot is a miniseries, there will be about half the amount of episodes as the old school Sex and the City seasons, I’m afraid. But as they say, less is more!

According to Variety, And Just Like That will consist of 10 half-hour episodes.

Is there a trailer?

Not just yet, but there is a teaser!

The three lead actresses sent fans into panic mode when they shared the teaser on their ‘grams, which was also shared by the show’s official Instagram.

The fabulous teaser trailer shows cuts of New York City and a computer screen where Carrie types “And just like that… the story continues.” It also included SJP’s voiceover, of course.

Behold:

How can I watch And Just Like That in Australia?
