Sesame Street Parodies All Peter Jackson Holds Dear In ‘Lord Of The Crumbs’

In addition to preaching the importance of practicing self-restraint, Sesame Street’s slightly-divergent parody of The Lord Of The Rings – in which Cookie Monster plays a Gollum-like figure named Gobble on a quest aided by Cate Blanchett to recover lost dessert ingredients and forge delicious sometimes-foods in the fires of Mount Crumb – also teaches the importance of basic arithmetic, the power of mnemonics and bestows upon viewers both young and old the value of a basic biscuit recipe. The Lord of The Crumbs is the latest in a line of on point pop culture parodies from the stalwart edutainment residents, with previous instalments in a series including a sheep in wolf’s clothing adaptation of Homeland and a pun-laden parody of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

It’s everything you could ever hope to gain from one of Peter Jackson’s trilogies – a moral takeaway, adventure, top notch CGI – and will only take you five minutes as opposed to six hundred and eighty-three.
The Hobbit II: The Desolation of Smaug opens in Australian cinemas December 26th. Lord Of The Crumbs is available for viewing immediately.
