The Internet Reckons Grover Just Swore On ‘Sesame Street’ & How Fucking Dare He

Here we bloody well go folks, we’ve got another Yanny/Laurel, gold/purple dress debate on our hands only this time it involves muppets. Sesame Street muppets, to be exact.

A clip from the beloved children’s program is currently doing the ’rounds online as viewers believe that blue muppet Grover casually dropped the ‘F’ bomb.

In the episode, Grover can be heard saying what sounds like: “Move the camera! Yes, yes, that sounds like an excellent fucking idea!”

Observe (but cover the ears of onlooking infants)…

Okay so after a second listen it becomes quite obvi that he’s most likely saying “that sounds like an excellent idea” but his voice got muffled and it ends up sounding like a profanity.

Reddit users have been left equally stunned by the discovery and a debate has started in this thread if ya wanna go join the convo (God knows there’s nothing else to do in this insane heat if you’re not a beach bum).

“Heard the f bomb first, had to really listen for ‘sounds like’,” one user insisted.

“I couldn’t hear the non-swearing version until I was looking at the sentence in the title, and now I can’t hear the swearing until I read THAT as I’m listening! Stupid confused brain,” wrote another.

Another clever Reddit user claimed that our confusion is a result of some effect that allows us to only hear what we wish to hear.

“It’s called the ‘Rolladeriekya’ effect, named after Roderick de Rolladeriekya, a Spanish/Russian scientist who researched this kind of thing.

In short, people’s hearing isn’t great, we can hear what we subconsciously want to hear,” writes the user.

Sesame Street reps have yet to release a statement about the viral discovery but if and when they ever do, it had better be delivered by Elmo himself or they can keep it.
