Selma Blair Reveals Multiple Sclerosis Diagnosis In Emotional Insta Post

Selma Blair, Multiple Sclerosis

Actress Selma Blair has taken to social media to reveal that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, explaining how the disease has affected her life and work in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Alongside a photo from a recent wardrobe fitting, she wrote:

“I have [multiple sclerosis]. I am in an exacerbation. By the grace of the lord, and will power and the understanding producers at Netflix, I have a job. A wonderful job. I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken GPS. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”

Selma Blair is currently shooting Another Life, a sci-fi drama series for Netflix, and she recently played a small but memorable role in another show for the streaming service, Lost In Space

In her post, she thanked Allisa Swanson, the costume designer for Another Life, for making her outfits and helping her get dressed in them, and lending a shoulder to steady herself as she changes.

She said that she has likely had the disease for 15 years, and while it has made aspects of her life difficult, she is relieved to now have a diagnosis. She continued:

“I want to play with my son again. I want to walk down the street and ride my horse. I have MS and I am ok. But if you see me, dropping crap all over the street, feel free to help me pick it up. It takes a whole day for me alone.”
