Seinfeld’s Uncle Leo Passes Away At 88

With his signature catchphrase “JERRY! HELLO!” the Seinfeld character Uncle Leo, Jerry’s zany uncle, was one the most endearing, scene-stealing peripheral characters on the show, so we are sad to hear that the veteran actor behind the character, Len Lesser, has passed away at age 88.

CNN reported that Lesser died on Wednesday in California from cancer-related pneumonia. “It was very peaceful,” said his daughter, Michele Lesser. “He was a great grandpa, and an amazing father. He had a heart of gold — and a sense of humor of platinum.”

Lesser had a long career working across film, TV and theatre, most recently performing on stage in a critically acclaimed production with the University of Toronto’s George Ignatieff Theatre.

R.I.P Uncle Leo.
