‘Seinfeld’ Writer Wants A “Billion Dollars” From Maccas For Stealing Muffin Top Idea

They say life imitates art and if you don’t agree that Seinfeld was a piece of fkn art then exit this screen right now, please.

Elaine voice: “GET OUT!”

Anyway, as per the rule, a storyline from the hit ’90s show has been imitated in real life.

In the episode The Muffin Tops, Elaine suggests the “million dollar idea” of selling just the muffin tops minus the stumps, a concept that is then knocked off by her former boss Mr. Lippman who goes on to open a muffin top store called Top of the Muffin To You!

“Top of the muffin TO YOU!”

21 years later, a similar situation has gone down over in the States, with fast food giants McDonald’s being the Mr. Lippman of this case who has started selling muffin tops as part of their McCafe menu.

Now, the Seinfeld writer who penned the episode, Spike Feresten has taken on Elaine’s role by demanding compensation for the tasty idea.

The angry writer has posted a video directed at Maccas, asking them to cough up “a billion dollars” or at least sponsor his podcast.

“What took so long? This episode was written 21 years ago.”

“What I thought about was the money. The money I’m going to make from this multinational corporation. That’s what I thought about.”

“You’re going to have to pay me a billion dollars. But I’m going to use that money very wisely; I’m going to buy a bigger car collection than Jerry Seinfeld and make him feel bad.”

“And I think, if [those] aren’t possible, well they can just step in and sponsor ‘Spike’s Car Radio,’ my new cars-and-coffee podcast on Podcast One. I’ll help you sell the [muffin top] things.”

If art really is gonna be imitated here then Feresten should go into business with Maccas just like Elaine did with Mr. Lippman.

Now all they need is somewhere to dump the stumps…

Meanwhile, the iconic ep along with the rest of the series is currently streaming on Stan.
