See Tom Cruise As A Rock Star In ‘Rock Of Ages’

Talk to me guys. Tell me your honest thoughts about Tom Cruise playing a 1980’s hair metal frontman. He is cast in the role of Stacee Jaxx in Rock Of Ages, the movie adaptation of the popular Broadway musical featuring classic rock hits by glam metal bands peopled by men in drag makeup, spandex, unusually large penises and Heather Locklear-esque girlfriends: Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister and Poison.

It’s being directed by triple-threat filmmaker Adam Shankman who previously helmed the remake of John Waters’ Hairspray, so the production has that going for it. It also boasts an impressive cast including Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston and Russell Brand which is also promising. But, like Tommy Lee’s famous appendage, I find the prospect of Tom Cruise brandishing the sign of the horn and leather pants a difficult thing to swallow.
