The internet is nuts for things that look like other things, so a few days back, a post on Reddit went viral as all hell, when a woman in an old photo was found to bear a striking resemblance to one Scarlett Johansson.
A user by the name of denverjoel shared the photo, which shows his grandma Geraldine at the age of 22 in 1967, and the two do indeed look uncannily similar.
Geraldine was amused to learn of her viral fame, telling her grandson she was “drunk as a skunk” in the picture, where she can be seen next to her husband of 54 years, who sadly passed away in 2016.
The photo made it as far as Scarlett Johansson herself, and the star was in awe of the resemblance, posting a video in response and inviting Geraldine to come get tipsy with her at a movie premiere.
“Geraldine, I cannot tell you, I have been absolutely inundated with emails and messages about how much we look alike,” she said. “And I had to look at the photo myself. Holy crap.”
“I saw that you were, quote, ‘drunk as a skunk’ when taking that photo, and I would like to see your drunk face. I want to share a drunk face with you. Let’s have a drink, Geraldine. I’ll see you at the bar.”
Rough Night, a raunchy comedy about a bachelorette party gone bad, is out in June, and this warm, fuzzy story is probably the best viral marketing they could dream of, especially after Ghost In The Shell copped a pasting in the press.
Rather than being too cynical about it, we’ll just be happy that Scar-Jo found her drunk doppelganger.
