Samson And Delilah Nabs Stateside Release

While David Michod (interview here) attempts to break the record for most stateside interviews by a first time Director (dude is seriously everywhere), Warwick Thornton, the breakout Australian filmmaker of 2009, may finally see his Cannes winning Samson & Delilah hit the silverscreen in America.

According to The Playlist the North American rights to Thornton’s debut film, which held theatrical runs in Australia and The UK, were recently acquired by IndiePix: “Internet-based distribution shingle IndiePix have acquired the North American rights to Warwick Thornton’s 2009 Cannes Camera d’Or winner and Australia’s 2009 Academy Awards contender “Samson & Delilah.”

The pathos contained within Thornton’s largely dialogue free debut is as universal as it is palpable so here’s hoping it finds a wider international audience in America.
