Last month we were dealt one heck of an almighty blow after finding out Bachelor in Paradise favourites Sam and Tara had broken up, shattering the very sanctity of true love.
Via their once loved-up Instagrams, Sam announced the news in a lengthy post sharing his absolute heartbreak over the split. Like many relationships originating from a bout on reality TV, real life cocked it up real good.
Moments later, Tara confirmed the split through her Instagram story.
For us mere couch potatoes watching the unlikely love unfold on our screens, news of the split SUCKED so we can only imagine just how fucking shit Sam is feeling right now.
Since posting the announcement, Sammy’s been pretty quiet on social media until last night when he announced he would be donating his ring to a charity he supports:
The last time I held this ring there was so much electricity and hope in the air. I remember holding it and believing that I was doing something important and something that mattered. That something was love. After allowing time to pass and the things I’ve discovered I can see that those moments weren’t destined to last.
I have decided to donate this beautiful ring to charity. This will go to auction for a charity that I believe in.
It’s time to move on and having the beauty sit in a box, when it could be doing good for others in need. This is really important to me.

He also thanked the thousands of messages and comments people sent in since breaking the news:
The overwhelming support and love I have received from you all took my breath away. Your words of encouragement and strength have been so special to me. Reading the extremely personal messages of struggles that many people have shared with me, told me it’s time to turn this into something positive.
…I needed some time to breathe it all in, and understand it all, but it’s now time to move forward and look to the future.

Tara has been the subject of some pretty terrible comments lately – many spreading rumours and whatnot about the reason for the breakup – causing the Bachie star to defend herself.
She wrote in reply to a comment:
“I’m just remaining positive and moving forward. What happened is our business and no one else’s. We decided to end it and that is all we need to say! I just want to move forward with my life. I have been dealing with people trolling me and being negative and it’s hard. I feel like people think I am some robot and I don’t get affected by this stuff but it’s really stressful. The more I talk the more I fuel the fire – so I just want it to stop!”
