Ryan Reynolds’ Sneaky Contract Terms Made Him Lots O’ Xtra ‘Deadpool’ Cash

It’s only been out for two weeks but ‘Deadpool’ has already made the box office its bitch, netting upwards of $500 million internationally despite an R-rating.

What that means is one big, fat, fucker of a pay day for the team behind the Marvel adaptation – in particular The Merc With The Mouth himself, Ryan Reynolds.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he was initially paid a paltry $2 million for the starring role, but teed up a sneaky deal regarding bonuses and backend which means he now stands to make at least an extra $10 million thanks to the film’s success.
If the film hits $800 million in the global box office, which is highly likely, that number is gonna sky-rocket to the point where this will be Ryan on a daily basis:
No one else attached to the film had the smarts to negotiate such a deal, but director Tim Miller (yep, the one labelled “An Overpaid Tool” in the opening credits) also stands to pocket some sweet cashola bonuses now its $58 million price tag has been made back… and then some.
This is good news, ‘cos his director’s salary was just $150,000, which seems shitty even though he *is* a first-time director. Also good news: DP’s success also means he can raise his directing fee to around $500,000 for future films, including Deadpool 2 if that happens (it’ll happen $$$$$$$$).
Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also copped “goodwill bonuses,” so dollas-dollas-hollas-hollas all around.
