Ryan Reynolds has responded to director Martin Scorsese‘s gripe about viewing content on small screens, saying that you should watch things however you damn well please.

Scorsese recently unleashed his three-and-a-half-hour epic The Irishman on Netflix, but begged viewers to  “please, please don’t look at it on a phone, please. An iPad, a big iPad, maybe.”

This month, Ryan Reynolds has his own film coming out on Netflix, the Michael Bay-directed 6 Underground, but he’s a lot less concerned about how you choose to consume it.

When Variety asked the actor whether he, too, would prefer you view his movie on a big screen, he responded:

“You should be able to watch whatever the fuck you want to watch on whatever fucking device you want to watch it on. I don’t know. I would say that’s just the way things are.”

That’s pretty clear and unequivocal, then.

Director Michael Bay hedged his bets a little bit more, saying:

“I don’t want my movies to be watched on a phone either. But movies aren’t that bad on these new TVs that have HDR, high dynamic range. Listen most of the Academy votes on TVs, okay. We all love movies. I’m a big cinema guy. But, the great thing about Netflix is it’s a new voice out here and it’s a strong voice. And they do interesting content. So, that’s why I appreciate it.”

6 Underground, which stars  Ryan Reynolds, Adria Arjona, Mélanie Laurent and Ben Hardy, is out on the streaming service on December 13.
