Ryan Reynolds Was All Mushy When Hugh Jackman Got His Order Of Australia

Ryan Reynolds has temporarily put aside his raging and very real feud with Hugh Jackman to congratulate his friend on receiving an Order of Australia.

Jackman was appointed a companion of the Order of Australia – the highest level of the award – this week in a ceremony at Government House in Canberra.

He received the honour for “eminent service to the performing arts as an acclaimed actor and performer, and to the global community, particularly as an advocate for poverty eradication.”

When congratulating his friend, an unusually mushy Ryan Reynolds said:

“Receiving the Order of Australia is a HUGE deal. And despite what I tell anyone who’ll listen, Hugh Jackman is one of the finest, kindest, hardest working, generous and most talented people I’ve had the privilege to call my friend. There’s nobody better.”

He also threw in:

“None of this changes the unfortunate fact he’s a complete bastard.”

On receiving the honour, Jackman himself said:

“On this occasion, I am reminded that I share the incredible honor with my parents, my siblings, my friends and, especially, with Deb, Oscar and Ava. There are countless teachers, coaches and mentors who have taught and inspired me along the way. I will forever be in their debt. It is humbling to be amongst so many great Australians who have outstanding achievements in so many fields. Thank you to the Governor General.”
