Russell Crowe To Play Dracula in New Eli Roth Film

Just when you think Hollywood’s fascination with vampires couldn’t possibly continue, horror film director and former Peaches Geldof flame Eli Roth is set to produce the vampire-detective film Harker, casting Russell Crowe as his fang-wearing, blood-sucking Dracula. His burly hirsute physique doesn’t exactly fit in the traditional Dracula mould of the indoorsy anemic.

The script has follow the Scotland Yard detective investigating the vampire’s murders along the English countryside. Crowe was originally cast for the lead role of Jonathon Harker, but has since been attached to the role of Dracula himself. The character of Harker is yet to be cast.

Although little is known about the script, it’s safe to assume that Crowe’s Dracula won’t be playing the sparkling high school type of the Twilight series. The screenplay is said to be a re-imagination of Bram Stoker’s classic story, with Crowe’s character heavily-based on the original Dracula.

Team Russell, anyone?
