Russell Crowe Shoots ‘Em Up In RZA’s ‘The Man With The Iron Fists’ Trailer

The Man With The Iron Fists has finally arrived. Directed by, starring and written by hip hop’s closest thing to a shaolin monk in Wu Tang ringleader the RZA, the film revolves around the eponymous blacksmith with literal iron fists (played by RZA) who must protect his village from harm by one-upping the JCVD glass dip, casting his dukes in metal and proceeding to beat people with them. Along the way he tangles with the evil Chinese version of The Thing, Lucy “Fan Death” Liu and a hotshot cowboy played by Russell Crowe, sporting some very questionable facial hair if we do say so ourselves. Other notable names include the script assist by actor Eli Roth and a ‘presented by’, whatever that means, by good pal Quentin Tarantino, whose penchant for droll one-liners, oriental fetishization, eye gouging and aesthetically pleasing blood sprays seems to have rubbed off on the apprentice here.

Here’s the synopsis: “Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.”
