This week’s vital and and necessary insight into the mind of Russell Crowe, national treasure and man who would frankly like you to get off his damn lawn, comes to you courtesy of satirical website ClickHole.
ClickHole, the clickbait parody the internet needs and deserves, runs a regular feature called ‘They Said What?!’, in which they falsely attribute bizarre quotes to an assortment of celebrities.
The most recent edition featured a ‘quote’ from our Russ, on the hectic nature of driving in Australia:
“Whenever I hear an American say Aussies drive on the ‘wrong side of the road,’ I just lose it. You ever think about how those people grew up driving on the ‘wrong side of the road,’ watched a lot of people get hurt on the ‘wrong side of the road,’ die on the ‘wrong side of the road,’ while other people cheered from the ‘right side of the road’? Australia has a thing called Highway Fights, so it’s touchy.”
Crowe, who does not strike us as the kind of person who spends a hell of a lot of time perusing satirical websites, found out, and was not amused. In this now-deleted Tweet, captured for posterity by Gawker, he said:

Neither here nor there, but Highway Fights starring Russell Crowe is a movie we’d totally watch.
We rate this slightly better than the time Rusty did strange vocal warm-ups during an interview, but not quite as good as the devastating act of dad shaming he endured last year at the footy. Please, Australia, give this man citizenship already.
