Stan Confirms Taika Waititi & Both Minogues For RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under & I Might Faint

Start your engines, because Taika Waititi, Kylie Minogue and Dannii Minogue have been confirmed as guest stars on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under. And obviously, by start your engines, I mean the engines on the plane you’re catching to New Zealand, which you can do now (!!!!).

The divine trio were announced as the first guest stars by Stan Australia this morning. I’m not sure who’s in charge of casting decisions, but they bloody nailed it with this one. Will there be a lip sync battle to Locomotion? Will Taika find an excuse to shake his tush? Will I spontaneously combust? (Yes.)

“I’m SO excited to finally be a part of RuPaul’s Drag Race for the first series Down Under,” Queen Kylie said in a statement.

“It’s such an iconic show and I can’t wait to watch the contestants perform their hearts out to win the title of Down Under’s first Drag Superstar!”

However, we don’t yet know in what capacity these three will be appearing on the show.

Stan made a point to say they *might* be guest judges, or they might be mentoring a maxi challenge / dishing expert tips in the Werkroom. Can you imagine Dannii Minogue judging your Snatch Game? I think I’d faint.

(For the record, Dannii said she had a cheeky lil ‘Untucked’ chat with the girls, which was “exciting and tense”, because they didn’t yet know who would be lip syncing for their life.)

The series kicks off on May 1, with RuPaul herself and Michelle Visage making their way to New Zealand (and undergoing quarantine) to film.

Queens Art Simone, Coco Jumbo, Maxi Shield, Jojo Zaho, Etcetera Etcetera, Karen from Finance, Elektra Shock, Anita Wigl’it, Scarlet Adams and Kita Mean will all be fighting for the crown.

Here’s everything we know about what’s coming for Drag Race Down Under – or just peep the trailer below.
