Living Legend RuPaul Honoured With A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

RuPaul, the creator of RuPaul’s Drag Race and one of the most widely-known and celebrated drag queens in the known universe, has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, which was unveiled yesterday in a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.

Grace & Frankie actress Jane Fonda introduced Ru, telling the assembled crowd that his star should be “at least three sizes bigger than any other star on the Walk of Fame”, because nobody else has launched an industry in the way that he has.

“Behind the glamour, behind the drag queen is a man of great depth, incredible intelligence and compassion,” said Fonda. “I love this man very much. I’ve just gotten to know him and it’s one of the great pleasures of my life.”

Also, we urgently need her leopard print coat.

When accepting the honour, RuPaul told the crowd that receiving a star was “absolutely the most important moment of my professional life”, adding “I wish for each and every person within the sound of my voice, that your dreams come true as mine have.”

The star is situated just outside the offices of Drag Race production company World Of Wonder, which means that, yup, everyone will have to see it every day on their way to work and be reminded of who’s boss. That’s such an evil twist that we’re almost 100% sure that Ru engineered it herself.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 aired its finale yesterday, and you can expect to hear our thoughts on that very soon. In the meantime, congratulations, Mama Ru!
