WELL THEY’RE BACK ON, BABY.
Jess confirmed the rumoured relationship on Monday, telling Nova FM that she and Ruby fell in love while filming the yet-to-be-released music video for her new Veronicas song, ‘On Your Side‘, which Ruby directed, co-wrote and stars in.
“It’s me. Me and Ruby Rose. And it is our love story in this video,” she said. ‘It’s about the dynamic, the highs and the lows of people in love, in a relationship.”
When the single came out last month, Jess told News.com.au that it was about wishing future happiness to former lovers, which the publication listed as possibly meaning Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins or Aussie musician Azaria.
NOPE.
“We’ve been friends for eight years,” said Jess. “We just reconnected over doing this video. We sort of just fell in love. It’s pretty cute, honestly.”
Since 2008 – when the pair were rumoured to be off-and-on-again – Ruby Rose’s profile has gone nuclear, sending her from cool gal of the Aussie media scene to ‘Orange Is The New Black‘ star and beloved human by the US of A.
“We support each other in our careers and we support one another and be there,” said Jess. “It made sense to be able to come out on that level because we want to be there in each other’s lives on a public level.”
“It’s just this crazy thing when you care about someone for so long and then you have the chance to reconnect,” she said.
“We’ve grown up a lot, we met very early on. We were very different people — we were babies!”
If by ‘babies’ you mean, ‘OH MY GOD IS THAT RUBY ROSE WITH LONG HAIR AND A FRINGE?‘, then:
