Rosamund Pike Joins Affleck In David Fincher’s ‘Gone Girl’ Adaptation

Beguiling English actress Rosamund Pike (Jack Reacher, An Education) has reportedly been cast in the David Fincher-helmed big screen adaptation of author Gillian Flynn‘s bestselling mystery novel Gone Girl.

Pike, who landed the role over potential contenders including Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman and Abbie Cornish, will star as Amy Dunne, the titular character from Flynn’s compulsive page-turner about a woman who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary and her husband, Nick (to be played by Ben Afflect), becomes a prime suspect in her disappearance after details emerge of their relationship having soured.

The film is set to go into production in September and has set a release date for September 2014. The movie should be a raging box office success, if the number of holidaying ladies reading the book last summer is anything to go by.
