Rolf Harris’ Child Safety PSA Bone Chilling In The Wake Of Guilty Verdict

“Just because he’s a grown up does not mean you have to do what he says” is just some of the advice dispensed by convicted child sex offender Rolf Harris in this retroactively chilling child safety PSA shot almost two decades after the entertainer’s first known instance of indecent assault against a minor, a crime for which he now awaits sentencing in London.

Released back in 1985, the child safety PSA sees Harris quiz a small group of young children on hypothetical danger scenarios, imploring them to “trust your feelings” and tell strangers to “go away please”.

Titled Kids Say No, the disgraced Australian entertainment personality spends the majority of the video attempting to define the emotional and physical boundaries of appropriate and inappropriate behaviour towards children using the idea of “yes” and “no” feelings. “No” being that which makes you feel uncomfortable. And “yes” being the type which makes you feel “safe and loved”.

The hypocrisy here is despicable, outrageous and heartbreaking.

As we reported last night: “Rolf Harris has been found guilty of indecent assault on four young girls in the UK between the years of 1968 and 1986, according to breaking reports from the ABC.  Per those reports, the jury took eight days to convict an “impassive” Harris, 84, on all twelve counts – each of which carries with it a maximum sentencing of two years imprisonment. Harris has been granted bail and will receive his sentencing on Friday; it’s expected he’ll be receiving a custodial sentence in accordance with his unanimous conviction.”
