The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is one of those things that people in Australia really don’t give a flying fuck about. It basically involves a whole heap of tacky floats being towed around New York City while the greater part of the American population tuck into their turkey dinner.
In an interesting turn of events, however, this year’s parade delivered at least one entertaining titbit.

Rita Ora was selected to perform in the OTT bonanza but, thanks to some truly unfortunate broadcasting footage, the singer’s now being trolled like crazy for lip syncing.

Unlike most lip syncing accusations, where people debate the legitimacy of the claims, the internet seems to agree that this is what’s happening in Rita’s clip.
Naturally, Twitter has a lot of feels about the revelation, with some shook over how badly NBC screwed up:

Some came to Rita’s defence, claiming that literally everybody lip syncs in the parade:

John Legend, who also performed in the parade, quickly came to Rita’s defence:
“Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance,” wrote John. “Hope y’all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!

Rita then thanked John and shared his Tweet with the caption:

She went on to thank a fan who backed her performance, claiming that lip syncing definitely ain’t her style:

Macy’s has since come out and admitting that there was some major technical issues during the parade, making it hard for artists to perform to the best of their ability:
“During today’s NBC broadcast of the #MacysParade several recording artists experienced technical difficulties that negatively impacted their performance,” wrote the brand. “We apologize and want fans to know these issues were out of the artist’s control.”
