Ricky Gervais Returning as David Brent For a One-Off Office Special

Ricky Gervais will dust off the polyester suit and re-style his feral goatee, returning as David Brent in a one-off The Office Revisited BBC Comic Relief special. Along with Steven Coogan’s Alan Partridge big screen debut (may not hit screens till early 2014), and the 4th season of Arrested Development, 2013 is shaping as the year of the iconic comic rehash with fans desperately hoping that writers can maintain the style and form of the genre defining originals.

No word yet if Gareth, Tim, or Dawn will make appearances but it has been revealed that Brent is still chasing his music dream, if funded by a bit of door-to-door cleaning sales on the side.

Gervais told The SunI thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find
out what he’s been up to for the last decade and most importantly what
he’s up to now. He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock
stars now.

Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll. Fans of The Office will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole
of ‘The Serpent who guards the gates of Hell’ and an amazing Brent
self-funded video ‘Equality Street’. Horrendous.
