Rick From ‘Rick & Morty’ Prank Called A US Megachurch & Lord, It’s Perfect

You don’t hear many good prank phone calls these days. Now that everyone spends the majority of their time on the internet, creating your own entertainment in such a way seems kinda redundant.

That’s not to say no one’s doing them anymore, they just seem lame by today’s standards, but Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland has brought new life to the art, pranking the shit out of a US megachurch as Rick Sanchez.

Now, for context, this particular megachurch is run by an asshole named Joel Osteen who closed its doors to victims seeking shelter from hurricane Harvey. He even defended his decision, telling those affected by the storm to drop their “poor old me attitude”.

H3H3 Productions brought Roiland onto their show to raise money for the reconstruction of Houston after the recent devastating storms. Using Rick’s classic voice and character traits, he called Osteen’s prayer line and requested he speak with the man himself.

“I have over $87,000 and I’m ready—sorry, I have $83,897 dollars, right now, for Joel Osteen. And I’m ready to pray,” he told the woman on the other end of the call. Completely sideswiped by the request, she begins to speak in tongues, with both her and Roiland grappling for control of the call.

It’s a wild ride and I highly recommend you watch it below.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to point out that Osteen kinda looks like a demented, alternate reality Jerry Seinfeld and it creeps me the hell out.
