Remain Calm, But ‘Rick And Morty’ Season 4 Won’t Arrive Until At Least 2019

Weird things happen to Rick And Morty fans in the extended gaps between seasons. Hell, the break between the first episode of the nihilistic sci-fi cartoon’s third season and its remaining episodes drove fans utterly mad, to the point where some rioted over nugget sauce.

So, when writer and producer Ryan Ridley says he doesn’t expect Rick And Morty’s fourth season to arrive until late next year, we can reasonably expect the show’s diehard adherents to absolutely lose their shit.

Speaking with podcast The Detroit Cast in December – an event that appears to have been missed by some of the more zealous Rick And Morty fans – Ridley said that as far as he knew, writing hadn’t yet begun on Season 4.

Ridley said show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland “really take their time” on the show, adding that he was confused as to why exactly it takes so long.

“I never understood why everybody — all parties, Dan, Justin, and Adult Swim — didn’t get their shit together, and make the show fast,” Ridley said.

“I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”

Ridley went on to reference one of show’s more quotable moments, by jokingly urging the powers that be to get their shit together, and “put it in a backpack.”

Bloody hell, the final scene of Season 3 also referenced the protracted breaks between instalments.

While network Adult Swim hasn’t yet confirmed an order for the show’s fourth season, Harmon has previously spoken on his desire to actually put the thing out.

We’ll bloody well see. Try not to destroy any McDonald’s restaurants in the meantime.
