Huge news for fans of rose-based dating shows: Richie Strahan, last year’s fan favourite to win The Bachelorette and Sam Frost’s heart, is your new star of The Bachelor.
The perpetually shirtless industrial rope technician from Perth was a longtime favourite to win The Bachelorette, but ended up being eliminated in the second-last episode in favour of Michael Turnbull and eventual winner Sasha Mielczarek.
But never fear. It was pretty clear at that point that this wouldn’t be the last time we’d lay eyes on Richie’s six pack. Frost herself said after the finale that she’d like to see him in a future season of The Bachelor. And we’re bloody glad we’re seeing him again now.
Richie won our hearts last year when he took Sam on a ‘growing old’ date – where they were both transformed into an elderly couple with special effects, and treated to an exciting afternoon of bingo and slow-dancing. And then this standard retirement home fare:
But it wasn’t quite enough to win Sam’s heart last time. The bloke deserves another crack, surely?
He’s pitching himself as a genuine Aussie bloke who loves his motorcycle riding, fishing, surfing, camping and playing AFL. That’s an easy sell, guys.
He’s already dropped the announcement on his Instagram, with the comments flooded with every variation of “OMG I’M CRYING” that you could possibly imagine.
Bachelor host Osher Günsberg speaks very highly of our mate Ritchie:
“I could not think of anybody better. Of course I am biased because I got to know Richie quite well in 2015, however I know that I share the sentiment of anyone that watched The Bachelorette Australia when I say, all I want is for him to find the right person.”
