Richie Strahan’s Take On His Split From Alex Nation Is Quite Sad TBH

It feels like it’s been 400 years since Bachelor winner Alex Nation subtly split from Mr. “Cool Bananas” himself, Richie Strahan. The breakup was quiet and unconfirmed for months – in fact, did they ever confirm? I can’t even remember, that’s how hush-hush it all was.

Since then, Alex has v v much moved on – she recently confirmed she was dating fellow footy team member Maegan Luxa in a very cute Instagram post, and the pair have continued to flaunt their love since – there’s even a strong rumour they’re engaged.

TOO MUCH.

Richie for his part has been radio silent on everything from their split to Alex’s new relationship – well, until now. He spilled some respectful beans to New Idea, and honestly – break ups just suck don’t they?

“The months leading up to it were the most difficult, crazy and confusing times I’ve been put through,” he told the mag. “Having something wonderful dissolve the way it did was heartbreaking, but at the same time, there was a lot of relief that the emotional roller-coaster was finally over.”

Essentially he says the breakup was a result of fizzling love, so nothing crazy dramatic.

“I guess the brightest spark can fizzle fast. We made some bad choices back in June and our relationship really struggled to recover for months after. It didn’t matter how much effort I put into it – sometimes these things are destined to fail.”

He dealt with the split by going a bit AWOL from the public life, and spending time with his family and mates.

“I was going through a range of emotions and I didn’t feel like engaging with everyone. I needed space from what I was dealing with and wanted to work on myself. So I surrounded myself with my family and friends, and found peace getting back to my passions, like surfing, fishing and dirt bike riding.”

While he acknowledged that the split was sad and shitty, he also said it wasn’t the lowest point of his life.

“No, I wouldn’t say the lowest. Relationships don’t work out all the time and that’s OK. If it’s not meant to be then maybe that’s a blessing in disguise. I’m a positive person and there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I’m fine now and doing really well.”

He didn’t say much about Alex’s new relationship, just that he hoped she was “really happy”, and the whole thing is just NICE, guys. If you want to read the rest (Richie also says he’s made a short film, which like WHAT but also I’m intrigued tell me more), you can check it out on New Idea’s site.
