Rebel Wilson Decided To Weigh In On Australia’s COVID Response Because Her Mum Can’t Get TP

Rebel Wilson has criticised the lockdown imposed in NSW over the weekend after copping texts from her mother who is based in Sydney.

The actress, who is currently working in the US, kicked off a series of Instagram Stories with a selfie, captioned with: “Sydney, WTF!!!”

The second pic was sent to Rebel Wilson by her Sydney-based mother. It showed an empty toilet paper aisle at her local Woolies as Sydneysiders are in full panic-buying mode amid the two-week lockdown.

In a third Instagram Story, that featured a pic of colourful party streamers (???), she wrote: “You can’t keep locking down as a strategy.”

Rebel Wilson is currently in Atlanta, Georgia over in the States where she’s filming the new Netflix comedy, Senior Year, which is slated for release in 2022.

Rebel Wilson was born in Sydney and travels back and forth, depending on her werk schedule.

On Sunday, prior to the Instagram Story rant by Rebel Wilson, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian defended her decision to enforce a lockdown, saying she had “no other choice.”

“I have never cared about what people think about me but I care about keeping people safe and not putting burdens on them unless we absolutely have to,” she said.

“Yesterday we had no other alternative that is a decision we take to keep our community safe but also during the course of the next few days and weeks, make sure we provide as much information as possible and as much certainty as possible.”

The NSW premier added: “We know when people are thinking about jobs, work, personal circumstances, they want as much certainty as possible and that is what we intend to provide.”
