You can’t control the message you can only hope to contain it. That’s what Qantas learned today when a twitter promotion calling for “your dream luxury experience” turned into an enabler for customers to vent their frustrations online. The call to entry was innocuous enough – “Ever wanted to experience Qantas First Class luxury? You could win a First Class gift pack feat. a luxury amenity kit and our famous QF PJs. To enter tell us ‘What is your dream luxury inflight experience?” (Be creative!) Answer must include #QantasLuxury”. Twitter users highjacked the promotion within minutes, using the #QantasLuxury hashtag to bombard the airline with negative comments. Learning? When you’ve amassed this much bad will expect the worst in people. Also, if you’re gonna spruik a competition that’s built around luxury make sure the prize is more than just toiletries and pajamas worth $30. That ain’t right. Here are some of the best reactions…
