QANTAS Apologises For That Hardcore Porn On Their Facebook Page

In another instance that has made social media managers realise they need to take a little more caution with the accounts they manage, QANTAS has released an apology for a pornographic image that was posted by a user on their Facebook page on Friday. Spirit of Australia, everybody.

The slip up might have gone undetected and said social media manager’s job may not have been in peril today if it weren’t for an 8 year old boy who happened to stumble across the profile-picture sized image while browsing the QANTAS page. Whereas most kids have their own coming-of-age experience (typing “boobs” in to Google Images; watching SBS past 11pm), it must have been a little upsetting for the boy to be unwillingly thrust in to the world of porn. Won’t somebody please think of the children?

A concerned father reported the sight his son was objected to, defending the fact that the image itself was quite small by saying, ‘When you rolled over it on the iPad a larger version of the image popped up,” he said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. The father held restraint in his phrasing, saying that “the anatomical details were quite clearly recognizable”. Use your imagination.

When he reported the incident, a public relations official told the man that it was “not that bad” (read: it’s the internet, what do you expect?), but removed the content nonetheless.

A QANTAS spokesperson has extended the sentiment of, “trolls will be trolls” by saying, “Facebook is a great way for us to talk with our customers and it’s really unfortunate some people will go out of their way to spoil it for others by posting something inappropriate.
