I don’t know how I missed this, but Netflix is making a third Princess Switch movie. No, Vanessa Hudgens will sadly not play four different characters. Devastating, I know.
Netflix revealed it ordered a third movie earlier this month, confirming that production on #3 would begin next year for a holiday 2021 release. Filming will take place in Scotland.
Speaking to The Wrap on Wednesday, Hudgens absolutely shot down the idea that she would play another lookalike in the third film.
The Princess Switch started with two lookalikes, a baker and a duchess. The sequel will introduce a third lookalike, the duchess’s royal cousin, who is absolutely there to fuck shit up. More on that later.
Hudgens said a fourth lookalike would be “too outrageous”.
“We’re already at max outrageous here with three characters, we’re just going to keep it at that,” she told The Wrap.
“And I would 100% lose my mind if I tried to add another me, even though it would probably be Scottish [and] I love that accent and it would be a great excuse to master the Scottish accent. But no, that’s not happening.”
Calling it now, there’s gonna be a dude lookalike. Like, one of the blokes will have a lookalike. Probably Prince Edward (Sam Palladio).
The Princess Switch: Switched Again follows Stacey and Margaret as they decide to switch places again ahead of Margaret’s sudden coronation.
The gist is that Margaret and Kevin (Nick Sager), who fell in love in the first movie, broke up because distance got in the way. Kevin still goes to Margaret’s coronation, because of course he does.
The pair soon realise they’re still keen on each other, but can’t quite find the time to date because of Margaret’s many royal duties.
Hence the second switch.
Just as things are starting to look swell, Lady Fiona – Margaret’s cousin – appears and is determined to steal the crown. Or something like that, I don’t know. The three Hudgens are making my head spin.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again premieres November 19 only on Netflix. That’s TODAY. Well, this evening at about 7PM.
