Police Called To QLD Polling Booth After Man Wears “F**k Tony Abbott” Shirt

The Queensland Election is in full-swing today, and it isn’t, of course, without its dramas. Brisbane club Cloudland sending out anti-labor texts last night, for example. Or, cheers Courier Mail, Campbell Newman‘s wife Lisa Newman and Labor’s Ashgrove candidate Kate Jones wearing the same dress (call the election off! foul play!).

Further developments on the sartorial front have emerged, with the Queensland election tirade looking nicely cyclical: police have, once again, been called to intervene after a voter wore a provocative T-shirt and allegedly exchanged “verbal barbs” to LNP campaigners.

According to the Courier Mail, police were called to a voting booth in Pimlico after a man rocked up wearing a shirt reading, “Fuck Tony Abbott” – a bold and somewhat off-topic choice (wouldn’t Campbell Newman be the target today, if anything?), certainly, but really, the cops?

A surprisingly similar story was reported earlier this month, when a man was arrested and taken into custody by Queensland police for sporting an “I’m With Stupid” t-shirt near Liberal party campaigners.

I wish I could make this stuff up.

Today’s #ShirtGate punter posted a selfie of his getup on Reddit, feat. bucket hat and a luscious beard. You can take a squiz of that situation over here
