Over the weekend thieves struck the Sea World on the Gold Coast and stole a fairy penguin named Dirk, in the most adorable crime of 2012.
Today police confirmed that Dirk has been safely recovered, thank god. ABC news reports that the penguin was found at Southport last night, exhausted but in reasonable health.
Three men aged 18 to 21 have been charged with the penguin-napping. It’s alleged the trio broke into Sea World on Saturday night, swam with the dolphins and stole the penguin on their way out. This disgusting criminal act is one I’m sure most people can totally sympathise with.
