Paula Abdul Will Play Herself, Dr. Karl’s Love Interest In Upcoming Neighbours Episode

Paula Abdul has been cast in the role she was born to play – Paula Abdul – after nabbing a cameo appearance on long-running Network Ten soapie series, Neighbours. The marquee personality around which the network hopes to build their So You Think You Can Dance Australia resurrection attempt filmed the part on Monday and is said to be involved in a “light-hearted” romantic storyline with Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), who professes a longtime crush on the singer when she inexplicably stops to have a drink or ten at local establishment, Lassiter’s Hotel.
“I remember watching Neighbours when I was in England in the 1980s. I thought it was a lot of fun and for it to still be popular after nearly 30 years is an amazing achievement,” said Abdul. “Everyone was so nice and I will admit, Dr Karl was very charming. I had a really lovely time.”
The episode will air in June on ELEVEN. In the meantime, here’s Abdul acting like a sober person.
