Paul Feig To Reprise ‘Freaks & Geeks’ Type TV Series?

Long before he directed Maya Rudolph’s bridal-themed public shitting in Bridesmaids, Paul Feig created the short-lived but long-loved high school dramedy Freaks and Geeks. The critically acclaimed paean to teen angst was Feig’s first official induction into the world of television which he followed with stints directing quality tv comedy like Arrested Development and Nurse Jackie. Despite his huge success with the Academy Award-nominated Bridesmaid, Feig has revealed he is planning a return to the small screen with a coming of age conceit in the vein of Freaks & Geeks.

During a recent segment for Marc Maron‘s WTF podcast Feig said, “There is one TV series I want to do. It’s a very personal, it’s almost even more personal than Freaks and Geeks was, but in that same tone. Taking my books, I have these two memoirs, Superstud and [Kick Me], using those, I really want to tell the real story. To me it’s a coming of age, coming of middle age story about both my dad and myself and going between the two. It’s a lot of funny/awkward episodes.”
