Patty Mills, Aron Baynes And The Larry O’Brien NBA Trophy Crashed A Live TV Cross

Unpredictable as balls, live television is a potentially hazardous proving ground for rookie reporters and veteran newscasters alike, subject as they are to the fickle whims of a usually well-sauced general public.
Presumably no stranger to the perils of a live cross in his field, Fox Sports News AFL Correspondent Julian de Stoop was this morning caught off guard by the sudden appearance of San Antonio Spurs teammates and reigning NBA champs Patty Mills and Aron Baynes, who just so happened to be in the immediate vicinity of a live telecast while accompanied by the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy and who de Stoop apparently mistook for a couple of rowdy Collingwood punters at 8:00am.

Mills and Baynes, who have affectionately coined the massive gold gong Lazza for the duration of the Spurs Trophy Tour Down Under, are making a series of public appearances in Australia between July 16th – 21st. In addition to spontaneously materializing on radio and television, you can follow and potentially catch #LarryDownUnder on social media and in Sydney tomorrow, followed by an appearance every day after in Canberra, Brisbane, Cairns, and Thursday Island, where the trophy will arrive in Patty’s ancestral home on Monday. In other words, the champs are here.
