Patton Oswalt Makes Statement On His Late Wife’s Cause Of Death

Actor and comedian Patton Oswalt has released a statement on the tragic death of his wife Michelle McNamara, who passed away last year, saying that its likely cause was a combination of prescription drugs and a heart condition.
Oswalt shared the news with the Associated Press after speaking with officials from the L.A. coroner’s office, saying: “We learned today the combination of drugs in Michelle’s system, along with a condition we were unaware of, proved lethal.”
The condition, he said, caused blockages in his wife’s arteries, and this, combined with Adderall, Xanax and the pain medication fentanyl, are likely to be what led to her death in April of last year.
McNamara founded the popular True Crime Diary, writing about crime news and unsolved cold cases. She and Oswalt had a daughter who is now seven.
Several weeks after her death, Oswalt penned an essay, saying “she hasn’t left a void, she’s left a blast crater”, and that his family “can’t help remember all of the times she made them laugh or comforted them.”
